Qualifications
Grade 12 minimum requirement - preference to technical course graduates.
Ability to adapt to duties that may vary frequently
Candidate must be willing to participate in upgrading programs.
Maintains strict confidentiality of all patient information.
Must have a valid driver's licence.
Relevant working experience in mechanical system repairs, electrical, welding, brazing, hydraulics, plastering, painting and plumbing is an asset.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Able to work alone or with a team.
Must be willing to participate in upgrading programs.
Preference will be given to candidates having the ability to provide services in English and in French.
Key Responsibilities
Perform all ground maintenance including lawn, flower beds, keeping entrance areas clean, and free of obstructions. (80% of duties during summer).
Perform snow removal from all entrances, emergency exits, fire hydrants, fire standpipe connections, electrical transformers, sidewalks and access paths (80% of duties during winter).
Maintain cleanliness of grounds.
Perform proper preventative maintenance on equipment on a regular basis.
Responsible for upkeep of bird feeders.
Assist and backup warehouse clerk as needed.
Responsible for moving, assembling and disposal of furniture and equipment.
Assist other staff as required within capabilities and qualifications.
Promote safe work environment and ensures contractors and students work safely while observing all safety practices and regulations.
Assist in hospital painting program along with other members of the team (paint and plaster).
Maintains an adequate supply of inventory for required repairs.
Maintains clean and orderly conditions in all working areas, including workshop.
Demonstrates, participates, adheres and contributes to a health and safety culture on a daily basis.
Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Plant & Maintenance, in any hospital function.
