Key Responsibilities

• Designs and constructs cupboards, shelves, partitions, and others as per instruction.
• Repairs and maintains buildings and equipment, e.g. doors, windows, floors, furniture, partitions.
• Must be capable of using all hand and power tools.
• Calculates quantity of materials needed and requisitions of lumber, hardware and other supplies from Department Head or designate.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading and specifications to determine procedure for constructing articles and plumbing system. Familiar with building code.
•  Ability to provide service in French and English is preferred.      
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in Carpentry is required.
• Trade or vocational school graduate with courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, mathematics, carpentry and wood-working is required. 
• Red Seal Carpenter license is required. 
• Working knowledge and ability to perform plumbing repairs. 
• Experience in painting, electrical, welding, brazing and mechanical repairs is required. Ability to work alone or as part of the team. 
• The ability to manage shifting priorities based on changing operational needs is required.

• Regular shifts (7.5 hours) which are typically from Monday to Friday during regular business hours. Flexibility is required for evening and weekend work on an occasional basis.
